This adaptation looks like it'll be spot on. The fact that Sugita is the mc's already makes me excited to watch it.

I do not remember physical violence being directed at any other female besides the protagonist, the opposite can't be said about Yoshiko.

Part of me wishes that Hiroshi Ikehata was the director, mostly for a play on words (his nickname is ahoboy). Not that it looks bad.
