Ryohgo Narita revealed on Twitter the other day that he has tendinitis, so that's probably what's going on. Hope he feels better.

I think this would be a better sentence if you included the year it ended. It reads like it ended August 22, 2001 or August 22, 2017.

Probably, unless Kubo is re-working the script with Narita for whatever reason, but it's probably the former.
