It certainly would have been a more spectacular beginning for what is basically Point Zero of the Anime World though they probably did make the better choice going with Astro Boy's origin instead.

To bad this didn't get made. Sounds like could be interesting idea for an Astro Boy story. Could even parallel the man made aspects of the two. One being made of machine and originsl of human parts. Both in a way of man's trying to create life.

^^@Kadmos1, ditto! As to why this was shelved, I'd hazard that they might have been uncertain about rights to use "Frankenstein" and how much it cost as well as the narrative problem that Atom's characterization wasn't developed at that point. They probably never came back to it because it really didn't fit well with the original story arc anyway.
