Now the real question: will these movies contain any new scenes or improvements to existing scenes? Or will they just be a new edit of the TV animation?

I doubt there will be much in regard to new animation.
These compilation movies are obviously supposed to rekindle the audience and media interest in preparation of a new TV season, which will follow later next year. We'll probably hear a date at or shortly after the movie screenings.

Agreed completely. And it's not like they need to add new animation. But compilation films very often have it, so I'm very curious if we will see anything new here.
