An anime series that is longer than 13 episodes but shorter than 24 to 26? What trickery did Madhouse have to pull in order to get this?

Don’t forget Nagato Yuki’ Chan has 16 episodes total and Nisekoi first season got 20 episodes Wink

I'm still pretty sour on that first ep. I'm hoping for a great reaction from others in the coming weeks before I pick it up again...

Hmmmmmm 18 epsiodes? For a series with 6 novels?....this doesn't look good.
Based on how the first novel was adapted it makes me nervous to watch the rest.
I understand cutting content down from the novel but the first two episodes were for the most part so bizarrely paced, they could've included way more info without having drawn out scenes that don't add much to the flow of the episode.
Would've preferred at least one more episode per book to round the anime out to 24 episodes. This makes me think the 18 episode length is just a cost cutting measure
