"I like this manga so I want to steal from the creator and profit off it!"

That is not logic, sir. You are a scumbag.

How exactly did this guy manage to steal 80 books? I mean, even if they are small, piles of them are a pretty hefty load to try and carry. Still, shoplifting is bad and you should never do it. At all.

Sounds like something I'd do if I was a complete nutcase.

This had to be for a resale of some kind right? Why would anyone steal 80 Detective Conan volumes just to read them if they are available in god knows how many online reading sites...
Collecting...? Stealing them could damage them so no...
Gifting them? Gifting a stolen item... yeah no.
Fuel? This seems the most likely, tbh.

Maybe they stole them over the course of three days.

He was identified as being completely black, not of African descent but black black, like a shadow person, with no discernible features but eyes and a grin.

Also, dude, libraries are a thing.

Give the man some slack. He's just trying to recreate a crime from the Detective Conan series. Oh but you can send him to the slammer for that though of course Laughing

Oh my god that made me laugh so hard! Anime hyper

As someone who came home from Japan with 80 books, I can vouch that it's very heavy (had to space them well between two checked suitcases to not be over the weight limit) and very bulky.

And I can't help but wonder how he 'liked the manga' when he's literally doing what the bad guys do?

The store owner once sold a book to his brother on competitive eating and it was this book that caused his suffocation death while trying to break Takeru Kobayashi's hot dog eating record.

Of course he had to get revenge.

I'd say he was lucky he didn't get away with it. If he had, the monetary strain of having to cover that big of a loss would have broken the seller, leading to his death... somehow- Japanese sadness disease I guess. And then the store owner's daughter would have tracked him down, spent a year as his assistant while devising an intricate and poetic death involved a self-constricting red bow-tie and a helium balloon shaped like a soccer ball.
