I searched the forum and didn't see any other thread addressing this. Sorry if I am in error....
The encyclopedia lists "Minami-ke Okawari" as an "alternate retelling" of the first Minami-Ke, but after watching the first episode, I personally am pretty convinced that Okawari is an actual legitimate second season, just by a different production company. It seems to start just after the end of the first Minami-Ke (just after spoiler[the new year, episode 13]). The characters appear to remember events from the first season, most notably, the scene where spoiler[Touma and Makoto show up to the Minami residence in their normal clothes, and Kana doesn't let them in until Makoto changes back into Mako-chan]. Did I miss something? Why is it called a "re-telling"? |

It was known there was going to be a second series by a different animation studio and staff since before the first one began. I think because of the different studio, it was assumed it would be an "alternate retelling", even though it ended up being an actual sequel instead.

Well, it was because rumors circulating over the 'Net once said the story would be different, much like Negima! and Negima!? Now we have people watching it (sorry I haven't) I'm changing it to "sequel."
