It's really hard to imagine anyone else other than Ayres doing the voice of Frieza. It was just perfect. Rest In Peace.

This hits hard in the gut. He was such a talent and loved talking on his cats! He was just so full of life and love and wanted the world to feel it too. RIP, Chris...Lord Frieza was lucky to have you be his words.

Yeah this one hurts. I was really rooting for him (and Krystal) to be able to gain back some normalcy and just... a break after all these years of going through COPD. I've never met him personally so this is just from an outside perspective, but he always seemed to be such a positive light, both towards fellow peers in the industry, and when interacting with fans at conventions. Just heartbreaking, and he will be missed.

Rest in Peace. I know he's been struggling for years and he'll be missed. His Freeza was great.

Can't agree more that this one hurts. From what I gathered he was nothing but a ray of positivity, even while battling end-stage COPD. He will truly be missed. Love and laughter, always.

One of the things that makes this so much worse is having to have a fundraiser to pay for medical care. That would never happen in Australia. Sure, wait periods for the organ would be the same, but you would still get free medical care. The whole thing must have been awful for him and his family.

I was elsewhere when I heard about Chris Ayres' death. While the character Frieza was one of the most vile characters in anime,if what I heard about him is true,he wasn't like that in real life. And,the way he left us was equally sad and also undeserved. He had so much more left to do.

RIP Chris Ayres. You'll be missed greatly. Sad

His death is tragic, but seeing everyone on every forum that discusses this stuff show him nothing but positivity is very comforting. I think it'll be tough for me to keep watching new DragonBall content without his Frieza in it.

I met Chris several years ago at a local convention, heck of a nice guy with his giant insulated mugs. Greg is the one I know better, I've talked with him like seven times or so at different local convention that he appears at regularly. He's very public about his personal demons so I hope he's coping properly with his loss.

Rest in peace, Chris.

This is sad, it had looked a little bright after his lung transplant. RIP. He was always very passionate about his work, both as a performer and director in voice acting and theatre.

I was lucky enough to see Both the Ayres Brothers at a Panel at a convention in the early-mid 2000's, back then I didn't really know who they were, but the panel sounded interesting.

Unfortunately I don't remember much about the panel, and until a couple hours ago i thought it took place at Otakon. The early dubs are the ones i grew up on and the only ones i can recommend or watch today and they were apart of them.

RIP Chris
