I would like to see Dimps do another 2D Sonic game. The Advance games were good at taking the Mega-Drive games and updating them with fresh ideas, rather than just cloning them.

| Quote: | | I would've preferred this to take on a more sprite-based style similar to Sonic Mania as I never really thought that classic Sonic looked great in 3D. |
Leave the overdone and overused sprite stuff to the Kunio Kun games
| Quote: | | The whole point of classic Sonic has always been to try to traverse the game as quickly as possible. You have Sonic at top speed, and then you use your mastery and experience over the level to find the most optimal path to the end. Sonic Superstars does have diverse pathways, but sometimes its gimmicks get in the way of maintaining that overall speed. It doesn't matter how fast I go because once I hit something like an automated hover train, the speed is taken out of the equation, or I'm forced to wait or jump at the right time until the segment is over. |
This was a thing in the Genesis games.

Maybe I'm just weird, but despite the "gotta go fast!" stuff, the Sonic levels I always enjoyed most were the ones where you could slowly explore huge chunks of the level. Rushing through just made me feel like I was missing most of the game.

I mean with Sonic CD & 3/Knuckles rushing through a stage and not exploring them was a good way to miss out on getting the Good/Best Endings.
Then of course you had the stages where the game very obviously wanted you to take your time with unless you enjoyed running/jumping to your death via bottomless pit, playing in water, or getting lost ala Sandopolis Zone act 2
