I’m pretty sure half of this was previously announced, but always good to have reminders!

Decent Lineup however, that is only the first round of licenses for the Summer 2025 Season Crunchyroll has licensed so no doubt in the next coming weeks we will have an answer which other series Crunchyroll and to a lesser extent Sentai Filmworks and Netflix licensed for this summer. Now to address the "elephant in the room" is in regards to CITY: The Animation I'm not sure who would end up licensing this show a month, but honestly, it's a three-way spin between either Crunchyroll, Sentai Filmworks/HiDive, and/or Netflix, especially the former two consider they license like every other anime series, including the slice-of-life shows each season, not to mention Crunchyroll (formerly Funimation) has Nichijou also created by Keiichi Arawi, and Sentai has been one of several anime licensors that tend to get the slice-of-life series.

Now, I wouldn't rule out Netflix, as they could be another good choice to get another comedy anime series to be streamed worldwide considering in the past year or two they have been licensing several big anime series such as My Happy Marriage, Delicious in Dungeon, Ranma ½, Blue Box, Sakamoto Days and the upcoming The Summer Hikaru Dies. Not to mention City: The Animation is being broadcasted on Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, and Nippon's BS11 which previously broadcasted Uncle from Another World, My Happy Marriage, and Delicious in Dungeon which Netflix did acquired to stream for their service. However, I have to keep in mind that just because Netflix has licensed several anime titles that were broadcast on Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, and Nippon's BS11 respectively for their streaming service especially through Tokyo MX (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, Uncle from Another World, My Happy Marriage, and Delicious in Dungeon) doesn't guarantee they would be licensing City: The Animation in July considering Netflix might put more of their attention to the second cour of Sakamoto Days and The Summer Hikaru Dies and not license any other anime for the majority of the Summer 2025 Season, along with the fact their are other factors that could hinder Netflix from getting City: The Animation such as:

1. The anime production committee for City: The Animation is much higher, leading to Netflix dropping out from getting this and Sentai and/or Crunchyroll swooping in to grab the license

2. Netflix is not interested in licensing City: The Animation despite its huge appeal and would rather just focus on creating their own anime originals or licensing other series (e.g. Sakamoto Days, Hikaru Dies), resulting in Crunchyroll or Sentai licensing it instead.

3. Sentai and/or Crunchyroll had licensed the particular anime series months ahead of time.

But honestly, my money is on Crunchyroll and/or Sentai/HiDive getting CITY considering how Netflix can be selective and picky on which anime they really want to license for their service (e.g., My Happy Marriage, Delicious in Dungeon, Blue Box, Sakamoto Days) and wether they want to license that anime or just be committed with their anime originals they want to do.

I'm not surprised by any of the continuations being here, I am surprised that there's no mention of New Panty & Stocking. i assumed that Crunchyroll would snap that up and start promoting for the upcoming season.

Even though it is nearly 1/5 of the way through its run, someone should license Princession Orchestra (why is magical girl isekai so less popular than Narou isekai?).

Yamato Video actually tried to license PriOrche for Italian streaming and they were told it's not available for licensing, so it's safe to assume other distributors worldwide were met with the same response

Was King Records taken over by a deranged AI bot? Or would the legal costs of licensing really be more than the streaming royalties?
