Jeez, kept us waiting. Was scared for a moment there wouldn't be a third season.

It's so bizarre seeing something I read 20 years ago animated so well.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't the Breaking Point arc supposed to have taken place earlier in the manga? Seems like they're moving a lot of stuff around here.

At the least I hope they cover the ending of the manga, even if it's somewhat anti-climatic.

They had me worried last season when they were skipping around so much. I'm hoping they're just moving things around that don't conflict with anything to make them fit better into TV seasons, rather than cutting anything major.

YES FINALLY

Also very excited that Atsuko Ishida is joining the team! Her episodes of the original series were some of the most beautiful in the whole thing, and the trailer looks stunning!

I'm glad you pointed that out, somehow missed that detail. Interesting addition for sure.

From watching the original anime, I thought this story was one of the best parts, so it's good to see them going all out for it.

The consensus on Reddit seems to be that they were trying to get all the main cast introduced in case the series didn't go past season 2. There's an anime-only scene at the end of the last episode that would have served as a decent enough ending if the plug got pulled.

Thankfully, it didn't and the ending theme teased the Breaking Point arc, and they'll probably go in order from here on out. There's probably going to still be a fair amount skipped if they actually animate to the end this time.
