On the first watch, I've noticed that Senku & Kohaku were wearing their original outfits when they got revived but everyone else were wearing the same primitive leaf outfits. I'm not sure if its because Suika purposely stored their original outfits somewhere safe & kept them maintained or am I just overthinking it. It is a rather strange detail.

I did think about that, but envisioning little Suika stripping them all down just to store their clothes made me not want to think about it much longer. I also noticed that she had fashioned a makeshift captain's hat for Ryusui, which almost immediately got replaced by an exact duplicate of his fancy original one. I could see her storing that away for safekeeping, but then why make his temporary Cone of Shame hat?

She probably wanted to make everyone's clothes but only managed Senkuu's and Kohaku's in between surviving and making revival fluid.

It's really funny that the first thing that Senkuu does with Xeno's rocket engine is blow something up. Xeno would be so proud. Dr. Xeno acknowledging Dr. Suika put a smile on my face.

I also share the review's frustration about the lack of translations in the dub when it comes to foreign languages. Golden Kamuy had the same problem, and the last episode of this season was downright goofy where they did translate the spoken Russian for one character, but not for anything during flashbacks, and all of it had Japanese hardsubs, so it's not like it couldn't have been translated with everything else.

I would say Ryusui's brother might be skilled but in truth all the first video games that stood out a lot were made by few programmers in little time. The first two Mega Man games had little staff members and were all made in little time.

I will say that the signs for episode 3 (like the date that they arrived in India) were translated and completely replaced the text in the boxes. That is, that's how it was when I watched without closed captioning. Closed captioning might break this because that seems to use a different format from their regular subtitles.

I watched the dub same day but later on after work and all the signs were beautifully subbed so I didn't see any issue. Maybe they fixed it later which is good.

Wait so is Sai actually even indian or half-indian? It seemed like when he was telling his backstory, he just ran to India to escape from his brother. Its not like he was actually born there otherwise wouldnt that mean Ryusui is also indian?

It seems Sai is fully Japanese, he's Ryusui's brother, but he just wanted to get as far away as possible from his family, so that's why he was in India.

I'm a little disappointed as Ep28 was the perfect opportunity to introduce the mechanical computer ala Babbage's Differential Engine as that no only was able to solve equations of motion for ballistic projectiles, but also was used in early planning for the manned space program and is easily made from "stone tools". But they zoned in on magnetic core logic and memories (that'll be next) to make an electronic computer.
However, those were famously lossy and overheating made them malfunction, not to mention they would need way more than 2000 to code a large program...Also wonder why they didn't try a vacuum tube computer like the ENIAC since they can make vacuum tubes, or electrical relays which preceded that and are easier to manage than core logic...

That is a problem that Crunchyroll has had for years where things may or may not be there on day 1, and then might show up later. I think they have a problem with their uploads where something doesn't automatically get put on there. It happens often enough that they need to figure out why that is.

I was a bit confused since they seemed to avoid saying what happened. The conversation about being left out of the family portrait suggests that Sai was an illegitimate son, but when Chelsea questions Sai, who didn't exactly say that, he doesn't answer her. From all the implications without specific answers, I take it that Sai's mother was Indian. Otherwise, Taiju's comment was a total throwaway line. His mother now being in India would help explain why he chose to run there since we are shown he came to resent math, and running off to a place characterized as a math hub would be an odd choice. We aren't shown that he used his prodigious math skills to wow everyone at the university to the point of admitting a kid and setting him up with a way to live, so I'm assuming he had help from his mother.
The other odd thing is that after he escapes, his father, who was going to make use of him to support the family and kept him toiling away apparently didn't use any of that vast wealth to drag him back. I guess he decided if Sai was that determined to defy him, then he would give up?

For me the emotional terrorism moment was Taiju getting to see Yuzuriha again, and he restrains himself to offering a handshake but she joyfully launches a full-body hug.
I'm curious as to how Sai managed as a child traveling alone to secretly emigrate to India. Tickets? Visa? Passport? His family was rich, but was Sai? Like with his own bank account? I'm kinda having a harder time believing this than them making half the stuff they do.

Ep29- While loss of realism this season is not news, this episode is where realism finally left for space...What kills me is that they used magnetic core logic (+memory, that part is OK) to make a "calculator" that could have done the exact same if made completely mechanically! Think an old cash register/adding machine on steroids, that was the "Comptometer"...And when they announced making "Nixie Tubes" I about lost it because those are filled with neon and one has to make a multi-cycle regenerative refrigerator to liquify air (25 deg K above absolute zero) to get it and in minute quantities at that (18 parts per million of air)...You don't just bend wires to make the shapes of the digits...
And landing on a whole beach of bauxite, how convenient...And to get aluminum, well, they will have to make a Bayer process lye pressure cooker and an electric arc furnace to liquify cryolite (where do they get that?? Greenland ran out...) for that which typically takes many kiloWatts of electric power to get to 2000 deg F that I guarantee even Magma couldn't produce...

The show can definitely get you with the optimism. I accepted Senku's idea that this was a one-way ride, but was excited when Chrome wouldn't simply take that. Now, as for how he will do it, I have no idea. He is right that he doesn't have the know-how of Senku, and he has a time limit of getting the return craft done before the rocket is ready to launch.
