It seems to me that the earlier Iczer entries are better. But hey, I agree that it's a good thing that you can stream it somewhere now.

This is a neat surprise of a review to see, and it makes sense since it was a relatively recent addition to OceanVeil. For me Iczelion is actually the only part of the Iczer Trilogy I've ever seen, which was a few years back, and I remember enjoying it decently enough.
I've heard that KSS, the company that financed the production of this OVA (& which Softgarage acquired the catalog of in the early 00s), was notorious for being extremely stingy with its OVAs & that if it wasn't deemed a success after only two episodes then it was cancelled, regardless of how long it was really meant to be. The what happened to stuff like Might Space Miners & the 90s Mars OVA (based on Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga, not Fuyumi Soryo's manga), & is probably also why a bunch of KSS' OVAs often wound up only being two episodes long (Fire Emblem, Tattoo Master, RG Veda, Koukou Butouden Crows, & even Iczelion).
Really, though, I hope OceanVeil's working relationship with Softgarage results in some longer titles that never saw an official English release before being given a chance, including TV productions like Platinumhugen Ordian, GR -Giant Robo-, & Legend of Basara.

This is also the only part of Iczer that I haven't gotten around to watching yet (too many new shows )
Regardless, still good to see more older titles available. Wouldn't mind all of Iczer being released in a nice collection.

I used to have DVDs of the "Iczer" series, including this. It's great to see one part get some love.

Oh man, been a while and haven't watched it in some time, but still actually have the old VHS copy of this with the big case.
Me too, I'd pick up a new copy of Iczelion if we got one or even better a complete collection of everything.

Nice.
Same here, always great to see this series come up as it was one of the earlier anime I got to see, though I've still been able to hang onto my copies. I remember renting the tapes of Iczer-1 from Blockbuster a bunch of times and I actually still have the old DVD of Iczer-1 and the one we finally got of Iczer-3 (as Iczer Reborn).

| Quote: | | The Iczelions will don armor that at least actually covers the soft, squishy bits most likely to be vulnerable in a fight. I approve of that. |
Especially the softest, squishiest bits located in the empty space just above, and to the sides, of the shoulder.
Gotta say, calling the show a “ crystallized relic of Japanese animation in 1994” immediately makes me very interested in it, but if I’m honest, that thumbnail got me there first.
Such a shame anime has passed beyond the era of enormous hair and even enormous-er shoulder pads.

Thank you! And yeah, I think it was the local Blockbuster that had the tapes. Other tapes had previews set to "Dance Doll" from the soundtrack, which rocked hardcore and needs a full-length release.
