Because it feels like a lot of the issues of the anime are a mix of TMS not putting any effort into it, combined with a pretty crappy source manga.

TMS could make it the most visually stunning anime in the world and it still wouldn't be any better. The 1st season wasn't bad but as it continued it got worse surprisingly the 5th season wasn't as bad as the 3rd, which for me was the lowest point in the series. It's basically the anime version of a soap opera, it goes on forever and nothing significant ever happens.

I'm glad you can watch the MC's cuck jerk-off fantasies.

I meant that more in the writing, not visuals. TMS has been mostly going downhill on that part since the 2020s hit. Also doesn't answer the first part of my question as to whether this is an anime-only problem, or if this is an issue with the source material also.

I always wonder why this anime keeps getting renewed. I watch it. It’s not the worst anime, but there are countless others that deserve renewals. This anime isn’t one of them.

I really hope Aleks Le and Lizzie Freeman may return after being missing for 2 seasons

Which goes to show that the database consumption culture is real. An increasing number of people don't care about storylines or plot in anime fandom. Just whatever makes them horny, or self-insertion.
