I was pretty bummed at the end of S1 when it was reveled that the next season was going to be a school arc, and episode 1 really scared me with how much it stick closed to all the cliche. But thankfully 2/3 did a lot to move away from that and hopefully the school arc aspect will just fade into the background.

I wonder if they're setting it up so Alicia gets her magic/crest with the events of ep3.

It funny that you said that because school itself factored least in anything going in ep 3. We aren't seeing Alicia participate in lessons, studying with friends in the library or going on dates or something. Its entire driven by lore, background politics that brought Alicia & Clevatess there and current investigative plot into Drel's lab. School itself just functional as backdrop no different anything else like Hiden's castle fro example.

Compared to something like Mushoku Tensei where the show did turn into a typcial school life story where very little happens outside of highschool hijinks I don't see how setting should be getting your way of enjoying the arc if you liked S1. The things most dislike about school setting is either not present or heavily reduced in favor of plot. It also help that school feels like has more paid actors and than legit students and later don't quite feel like normal students at all lol

Great Line of the Week: "Is there a reason you've been shrunk down into a tiny Heidenan schoolgirl?" deserves a great retort like "Why? You wanna make out now...?" Shocked

I guess so. Its the trappings of it though, at least on some level. I dunno, maybe its because the last two were boring that I didn't pay as much attention in 3. ANyway we'll see.
