Ok do you prefer to watch anime on tv or buy it on dvd. I personally hate it when they bring out anime on some stupid satelite tv channel and i can't ever watch it. For example Last exile on tech tv is up to 13 when i can only see up to 8 cause i don't got tech tv. I think they should put it out on dvd before tv.

LE will be finished on DVD before the run on TechTV is finished.
As for being on TV before DVD, I really don't mind, it gives some people more incentive to buy the DVDs. |

Well, I like to preview a series by seeing it on TV. Then, if I like it a lot, I get the DVD.
If I think I'll like it, and it won't come on TV, then I get the DVD anyway. In most cases though, I usually find some reivews and just gamble on the DVD. I've only had one anime that failed though: Samurai Showdown: The Motion Picture. Terrible... So in retrospect, I'd go with DVD anime over TV. The qualities a heck of a lot better, of course. You don't have to wait to see the next episode. And finally, you have the option to switch languages if you feel the need to. But then there's the money thing...

All in all TV is brining anime to a wider audience so really it can only be a good thing that more anime is appearing on TV. So what you have to wait a little longer than those with TechTV to watch Last Exile,it wont kill you. Im in Britain and we get very little anime on TV so you should consider yourself lucky. As to whether I prefer watching anime on DVD or TV the answer is ovbiously DVD as its better sound and picture,you can watch it at your pace,DVDs have extras ect ect. That said it doesn't mean anime on TV is a bad thing.

and if the series shown on tv is good enough, people will buy the dvd version.....at least that's what happened to me with Boogiepop Phantom, not only because the dvd gives me better quality, but because I want to see the series over and over again. This type of thing usually applies to those series that you need to watch more than once in order to "get" what's going on (i.e. Serial Experiments Lain, Cowboy Bebop, Betterman, SoulTaker, etc.)

I prefer to watch it on DVD, because you (just about always) have the choice to watch it dubbed or subtitled.

I think it's great that more and more anime is being shown on tv. The more people see it, the more series get released state-side. Larger industry, bigger fanbase, everybody wins!

DVD... for one, I don't have cable.
Honestly though, I perfer subs for numerous reasons. I usually don't care for many of the deviations (necessary that they are) taken into dub scripts. Even more so, I don't like someone else going in and censoring the content, which is more likely to happen when it is televised. |

Often the script isn't alwasy accurate on subs either. Subs are often changed in the same way as dubs. Although yes anime on TV is censored more than that on DVD but never the less a dub on a DVD is often as accurate as a sub on DVD. Sorry not looking to stray off topic into dub/sub territory. |

Since I'm kind of...poor, I watch TV anime more.
But, I would prefer DVD anime because of the lack of editing in it. |

Yes I agree American Tv I think edits to much and is to worryed about what we see on it...You mean take the super ball this year....It was "A" tit...WOW
 Like no one has ever seen "A" tit nevermind TWO! I like to buy DvD because I want to get the full version also so I can watch it again and again and again and again..well you know what I mean

I believe you mean "I mean." As far as Janet's exposure, that's not something you do on a family show like the Super Bowl. Even in other European & Asian countries where some form of nudity is permitted on TV, I don't seem to recall it finding its way into family-oriented programming (yeah, yeah, some family anime has "nudity," but the lack of detail in those special regions is a form of censorship and somewhat negates that argument). And why the "A" nonsense?
Speaking of "Amerikun tV si worryed abut what we see," the last batch of Inu-Yasha episodes ran uncensored, to my knowledge. |

Personally, and I think abroad, we all enjoy tha quality of DVDs but it takes time for them to be made right so waiting is fine with me thats why I believe in tha art of fansubbing when titles are unlicensed. I think fansubbing, even though its still illegal, is great for tha anime community. Seriously who wants to buy a $26 DVD of a show you have no clue on other than mabey a possible trailer or something you read online about it. Same goes with anime aired on TV. Even though tha only channel I get with my basic cable that has anime worth watching is cartoon network, I still think having seen mabey just one well-done show like Witch Hunter Robin or Cowboy Bebop is worth it. Since, in tha future, I plan on buying both titles thanks to having got to view them first.

I don't really mind. If I see it on tv I'll buy the dvd. If I don't see it on tv. I'll still buy the dvd. I like them both.
