I have fallen in love with this show called "Inuyasha" and I wish to own all the DvDs of it. But I find it really hard to do so. I have been reading about it for weeks and I guess that any copys that I find are edited in which they take out some of the stuff in it. also a lot of copys are "bootleg"
I know there is a site called viz that sells them but people say they edit it...even the English subtitles ones that are in japanese. I want to beable to watch it in my own lang. ENGLISH. I know that any english version of this show will be edited so I also want to own the Japanese version with subtitles that will not be edited ~ But how do I find both of these? Is it possible in find both DvD collection that are not "bootleg" I have found this website http://www.animecornerstore.com/inuyasha2.html That sells a dvd box set of the first season. It says that it is Bilingual - Japanese w/ English Subtitles and English Dubbed Does that mean it has the "English subtitles in the unedited japanese version" and the "edited english dubbed version"? Is that site that I gave you a good site to buy it off of? Does anyone know where to get them? I know that they all have up to vol 16 in english dubbed right now. Plzzz can someone open some light on this Because to tell you the truth I am a high school drop out who had to leave school beacause my mother is trying to mess up my life and 4 of her ex b/fs took all my stuff so now im living at my best friends house and Im gonna join the military because I have no other choice. So I just want to own something again and ever since I have watched this show it has made me forget how my abusive mother and her b/fs and my dieing sister and my life that is slowly going down the drain. So I just want to have a way to get away from it all if not just for a minute or to and this show is that way out for me. [EDIT - Topic Adjusted to match content. -C] |

Well, the DVDs released by VIZ are completely unedited. The edited versions are only on TV. However, you won't find too much shocking content in the unedited version, it's a pretty tame show to begin with. The bad news is that all the DVDs are not released yet and seeing how the show is still airing in Japan it will be a while before they will all be released in the U.S.
I would suggest checking out some other great series that are already out. Things similar to Inuyasha that you might enjoy are Escaflowne and Berserk (warning Berserk has extremely graphic violence and sexual content, so consider yourself forewarned). Both these series are IMO better than InuYasha and are considerably shorter, they are great way too pass the time until InuYasha is releaased. |

deepdiscount.com is you best bet but you must have a credit card so at a slightly higher price you can buy from rightstuf.com where they except credit cards, checks, and money orders.

Ok thank you for that information, its not that im looking for any "nasty" seens in the unedited version its just that I want to be able to watch it how it was.
aslo do you know if that I bought them off of http://www.animecornerstore.com/inuyasha2.html If that whole vol 1-9 deal they have...is it both versions? It says Bilingual - Japanese w/ English Subtitles and English Dubbed I have never brought any kind of DvD b4 never mind an anime one. So will that have EDITED DUBBED and UNEDITED SUBBED? |

When it says something like "Bilingual - Japanese w/ English Subtitles and English Dubbed" it means that you can select the type of audio (english, japanese or any other listed) and subtitles (with or without) you want on the video which will almost always be unedited unless specified.
And yes, the Anime Corner Store is reliable, they even advertise here, check the side bar on the left towards the botom. Emerje |

I think the first movie is supposed to premiere at one of the big cons this year right?
And for future reference, please title your posts in a way that actually reflects the question. Maybe it's just me, but I was a little bugged to see that topic line when it really has nothing to do with what you are asking about. |

First of all, welcome to the forum sinsgods-san.
I see you like Inuyasha, and I'm glad you do. It's one of my favorite series thus far. So, as a fellow Inuyasha fan, let me try to answer some of your questions to the best of my ability. First, yes. The DVDs you see for sale are uncut. Viz is actually just a company responsible for producing anime for U.S. adaptations. In this case, they’re the ones who brought Inuyasha from Japan. There are 2 versions of Inuyasha. One is the edited version that’s shown on Cartoon Network. The other is the uncut version on DVD produced by Viz. The 1st version on Cartoon Network is edited only for some blood and whatever violent content they feel shuoldn’t be shown on national TV. The 2nd version on DVD is uncut and free of any editing whatsoever. And on top of that, it has the option of changing audio formats. You can watch it in its original Japanese with subtitles, or you can watch the English dub. But just remember that these DVDs are UNCUT and NOT EDITED. So if you want to have uncut versions in any language, then go ahead and buy the DVDs released by Viz. And about the movies, yes there are 3 of them. However, none of them have been released in America yet, but I hear the first 2 are rumored to come out sometime at the end of the 2004 year. The 3rd movie was more recently released in Japan in December 2003. I don’t even think it’s on DVD over there yet, but I’m going to guess it’ll be out in America sometime early 2005 (or maybe not, depending on how fast they can get it.) I hope this helps at least a little bit and that you find what you're looking for. It'll probably be a while till the whole series comes out too since it's not even finished in Japan yet, so you have plenty of time to save up. Here's a site where I buy just about all of my anime DVDs. They also sell a lot of live action stuff too. Very good prices, and the have free shipping. That's always a plus. www.deepdiscountdvd.com Good luck and have a nice day! |
