I wonder if the Sidecar license is going to include the Stinger oneshot.

I'm sort of happy that Amazon keeps on leaking license information, but at the same time I have to feel bad for the publisher who might have been holding back on the announcement for a better PR opportunity.

Hrm.
Hate to admit, but as a BL fan - I'm underwhelmed...

Honestly, Viz's Signature series releases for 2010 are way more exciting. Surely DMP can do better than this.

They might be holding back any major info for yaoicon.

It's clear that they are. I think they've become wise, actually, to the licensing leaks that they're getting when Amazon, et al, posts listingings for their new acquisitions. They've already said they've got a "big" announcement planned (probably a license rescue) for YC, and I bet they're not soliciting it anywhere so they can keep it under wraps for as long as possible. Unlike with the bigger publishers, the small BL imprints don't generally roll out big press releases, so maybe it seems like they rarely have anything good, but in actuality the title announcements are coming in small streams over longer periods of time.

And I'm totally cool with this. I must agree that I have been underwhelmed with the yaoi news that's been coming out lately, but that's probably because I'm rather picky, and I don't need to read the books in English. My collection probably contains about 60% of all the yaoi that's been released in the States, and I buy because I want to support the industry, not because I OMG-totally-need-this-book-now! I want the industry to flourish, else I would keep getting my books from the Book-Off down the road (for $2, might I add).

But really, all I want to say is Intense Rain. It will be pre-ordered. I've loved that book for years, and I'm a big fan of Fuwa Shinri, so it shall totally be mine. Here's hoping they license more of her stuff at Yaoi-Con!

Not here.
I love Minami's stuff & am always happy to see it licensed.
Same for Mishima. I love both their art styles.
Of course, I also love Tateno's style, so this is a pretty good haul for me.
I've always seen it as art vs story. When both are good-wonderful, but a good story with lousy art is a bit more of a let down for me than lovely art with a bad story because manga is such a visual medium. Might as well be a novel if it's just a good story.

I'm psyched to see anything by Mishima get licensed.

Can anyone tell me about Mamiya Doll House?

Also, I agree with Cait about they're being more careful and conscious of the leaks. I'm positively giddy for the announcements at YC. If it ends up being a title rescue, a brand new series, or even (dare I dream?) both, I'll be squirming in my seat in joy. Anime hyper

Same here (even though I usually prefer slightly more masculine-looking guys and she seems like she's incapable of drawing anyone that looks over 16-- even her businessmen look like that). Anyway though, I'm actually a bit surprised more of her titles haven't been licensed. Too smutty? It's curious.

I think you answered your question as to why not more of her works are licensed when you mentioned that most of her characters look underage.

I see your point-- yet a few of her titles have been licensed, despite this. I just think it's weird because I always got the impression that she's a pretty popular author.

LOL
My bet is a combination of "too smutty" and "underage looking".
I would also add "weak storylines", but that doesn't seem to bother DMP much.

But, Viz is releasing Natsume Ono (Basso) and Fumi Yoshinaga's Ooku.
Even Yen Press is going into Josei with "Usagi Drop" (ok not BL, but still JOSEI).
Deux is (maybe) getting down and dirty with Ike Reibun.

I was hoping for maybe something on par with Saika Kunieda from DMP. uurggh
(well, they have picked up Maiden Rose - I can forgive a lot for Maiden Rose ....)
