You can try zooming in. Color saturation might also help if you have something more powerful than MS Paint. It looks like Kagami from Lucky Star to me.

Mine is Revy from Black Lagoon. However, it will probably be changing a lot. I tend to have my avatar be my favorite character/series at the time. I'm going through a Revy phase now.

I'm actually not super crazy about Code Geass so I should probably change mine to something more representative, but I did this icon for a challenge on lj where we had to take a cap from a certain episode then make an icon just enhancing the coloring. I thought the coloring came out really clean and prefer icons without text for non-lj sites so in my super quick skim of my icons folder when I joined this website I happened to pick this one.

It doesn't really suit my personality at all, but I'm using Horo. She's something of an ideal type for me (if her character was modernised), in that she has a sarcastic nature and a sly demeanor which I find endearing. Not really representative of me, but less scary than previous photos of me playing with my death metal band I guess.

For my first avatar, I chose Yuri of Dirty Pair Flash. It was just a random thought and the majority of my favorite anime characters have purple/violet hair and they are also my favorite colors.
