I'm a bit late to the party, but I got a PS5 a few months ago and have started playing Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut (also first time-ever playing the game itself), and holy hell what an experience. Easily the best samurai game ever. It's got so many elements from like, Infamous, Assassin's Creed, Tenchuu: Stealth Assassins, and the open world good-ness I've yet to experience from many other action-RPGs.
I'm playing it on Easy difficulty in English, right now, but can't wait to New Game+ it on Normal in Japanese. And if I'm still as obsessed as I am, now, I'll probably play Hard and Lethal in Kurosawa mode. |

Been playing Love and Deepspace! It's a gacha, unfortunately, but it's been fun to play claw/card games with the characters.

Started playing a few different games about last week and a month ago:
Gran Turismo 7 (PS5): I hadn't played GT since PS3, and holy hell it looks even more glorious in 60fps and HDR. I forgot how much of a time-sink this game was. And I'm not even a car person, but I can appreciate the beauty in the architecture, the customization options for all the cars, and the thrill of racing. I only have it on the easiest setting, since I don't have a ton of time to master it. But it's just as fun an experience as I always remembered it being. Nier: Autoamata (PS4): Had always been curious about the franchise, thinking it would have a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta feel to it, and then the anime also came out last year. I'm only a little over an hour into it the game and am through the first 12 episodes of the anime, with the latter making me very curious as to what the game will have in store. I hear there are a ton of side quests in the game, so that should provide a lot of diversity from the main story. Triangle Strategy (Switch): The last tactical RPG I played was Final Fantasy Tactics, maybe, 20 years ago. I loved the heck out of that. And after the first couple chapters of TS, it's pretty awesome. I read some blurbs about the story being Game-of-Thrones-y, so I'm looking forward to all the characters and twists for this one. I also read that instead of having a job system, each individual character is bound to their own class/job, which I think adds a lot to the theatricality of the roster. And then you have the whole alternate path thing, where the choices you make in-game will ultimately affect where the story goes. Very great game, thus far. |

I’m playing Stardew Valley right now. It’s relaxing, and I enjoy the mix of farming, exploring, and building relationships—it’s a great way to unwind after a busy day.

Starting to get into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and hoping to finish before XCX comes out. Don't really know much about the game beyond KOS-MOS' presence (which apparently requires a gacha roll, which sounds pretty torturous, but I'll be making a bee-line for that anyway). Curious if y'all think there's anything I need to know about it going in? Like I remember that, for XC1's remaster, it was best to constantly adjust your party's level to at-or-a-little-below the level of the enemies your were fighting to maximize EXP rewards.

Marvel's Spider-Man (Remastered) (PS5): First time playing it, and what an awesome game. It's basically like the Batman Arkham games, but with Spidey, and boy does it capture the essence of the character. I've only been able to play it the last couple of weekends and am about 8 hours into it. I put the difficulty on Very Easy, since I don't really have time for more challenging gameplay. And even with that, I'm kinda of sucking at the battle mechanics, a little. I'm too used to Batman Arkham's mechanic of counterattacking, where as this one is more about dodging, then attacking.
I love how open the world is, and the web-swinging across NYC is really fun. I'm actually wondering how accurate the design is in comparison to the real-life layout of the city? All the different suits you can unlock are also great. I've been wearing the first Amazing Spider-Man suit (the Andrew Garfield one) the whole time. I always felt it was a very underrated design, and the more rigid texturing really sticks out in 4K. I'll probably play the Mile Morales expansion after I beat this (whenever that is). |

Suikoden I & II Remastered: Played these a lot when they first came out on PS1 and was so happy when they announced remasters for them. I manged to recruit all but one character in the first game from memory without having to look up a guide, but got to the point of no return and couldn't get him anymore, so I had to start over pretty much at the end of the game. Thankfully, it only took about 12 hours of gameplay to get back to where I was.
I'm on the second game, now, but then forgot there was an internal event timer to try and recruit another character by a certain time limit. I actually didn't realize that till after the time had passed (got about 2 hours in), so I had to start over. On the bright side, you actually have the option to turn that event timer off, which I did. So now I can grind for money/exp without having to rush. After I finish these, I will go back to Eiyuden Chronicle, as I'm pretty close to the end of that, as well, but got really busy at the time. |

I recently purchased Hades (2020) for PS5, as it was on sale for about $9, and I've been addicted for the last few days. I haven't played a lot of roguelike games in my life, and I remember liking dungeon crawlers such as Gauntlet in my childhood. So this was pretty great. The Greek mythology theme adds some very cool ambiance. The constant dying and re-running was a little annoying, at first. But the gains from all the items and boons really start to kick in after a couple of hours, which increased the fun-fact exponentially. I highly recommend this to action fans.
I also had a bunch of Best Buy coupons saved up, in addition to another $70 one they gave me for spending so much on my BB credit card before the end of February. I used my saved up coupons and the promotional one they gave me and got a Switch 2, Pro Controller, and Monster Hunter Wilds (2025) (which was on sale for $20), all for only $100! Haven't played Monster Hunter yet, as I have quite the backlog of Playstation games. But I did set up the Switch 2, used my 7-day trial of Nintendo Online to transfer all my save data from my Switch 1, then downloaded the exclusive demo for Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (2026). I played about half an hour of it, before Hades started taking over. But wow, it's very old-school Zelda with an Octopath presentation and is quite fun. I also got on sale for Switch 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate (2024), which I hear is very much like Hades, which is what got me interested in checking the former out in the first place. |

Right now, I'm replaying Final Fantasy X because I haven't really invested any time of playing Final Fantasy X-2. I'm replaying the first one because I kind of forgot how the story goes and experience once more how beautifully made this Final Fantasy installment is.
The last time I played FFX was about 7 years ago, and it was in an emulator (and on a really bad laptop). Now, I'm playing it via Steam and I am not going to lie -- it's a 100%, aesthetically pleasing to play, to experience, and watch. Other than that, I'm just wishing that I have Nintendo Switch 2 because of Pokopia!!

So I never thought this would happen -- my husband bought me a Switch 2 for me to play Pokopia and omg... it's only two days since I have the console and I'm almost have 30 hours in the game After playing the game for 30 minutes, I realized the reason why Pokopia is addicting and amazing -- it's the unique premise that they set it in, in a Dystopian-type of world where humans and Pokemon are gone, while having these following aspects: (1) essence of Minecraft as a sandbox-type of game, (2) similarity with Animal Crossing where Ditto takes care of the neighbors and its building system; and (3) the main aspect of Pokemon where Ditto receives a Pokedex and we, in a way, register and try to complete the whole Pokemon list. This game has left me staying up late |

I stayed up till 5:30am (have to wake up for work at 8:00am) two nights in a row playing Hades. I haven't touched it since, and will wait for it tonight. Technically, I think I've beaten it enough times to get the main story with Persephone. But now I just wanna' get good and try adding one Heat with each Infernal Arm until I max out their aspects and my affinity with all the characters. Got so many other PS4/5 and Switch games on my backlog, but this game's pretty fun. Can't imagine how much better #2 is.

Been playing Pirate101 and questing on a Bill Cipher inspired pirate I made named Two-Faced Billy Leech. He's a melee Witchdoctor with a black and yellow color scheme, triangles on the flag (obviously) & Dead Mike as the Presidio companion (felt it was appropriate to have an undead unit that you can only get via the Mutiny choice for how you lost your parents) and is currently in Tradewinds Skyway. I also learned that when doing the Ambassador quests the side 5 companions (Carcarius Grimtooth, The Marchioness, Chantal Livingstone, Peter Quint & Fan Flanders) will appear in dialogue even if they're unrecruited. My guess is they never thought people wouldn't recruit them by this point & so never put in lines for when that didn't happen. Reminder you have to complete Gunn's Gold to start this questline. This isn't something I expected to happen so it's an interesting discovery for me. As for why one wouldn't recruit a free companion in this case I wanted to see what would happen if you didn't recruit them before then, specifically if the dialogue would change to account for them not being recruited. Needless to say this outcome wasn't what I expected to happen.
Aside from that I've been farming Queen Bishop in Trianon to get the Armada Mage's Boots on my main WD pirate (the stats are good & it gives a Mojo Blizzard power (damage+movement reduction) & rank 1 of the epic talent Bloodsucker (heal 25% of damage dealt)) but so far no luck. The bad news is I feel like I can get all the unique drops but that one. The good news is it's just the second fight of the West Wing dungeon so resets don't take that long to do. |
