Just how amazing is Blu-Ray? I mean, the players are about $200 and the shows cost about $30 more than DVD's. I've never been all that blown away by HD (I honestly can't see a difference except, maybe, HD is brighter), but more and more anime shows seem to be coming out in this format so I feel like I'm missing out on something revolutionary. Am I blind or is the difference really not that all that amazing and I'm fine just sticking with DVD's.

Yay, more Freedom! Not sure why they're doing a 2 part release of such a short series though. By the way, does anyone know when Bandai is going to release a box set of Flag? I really want to own it but I don't want to buy all the singles (they only got like, 2 or 3 episodes per volume).

If you really can't see the difference while watching, then don't bother. Not everybody is a videophile, so it's not worthwhile buying into something that you won't benefit from.

They had one scheduled for May before they canceled it. So it's anyone's guess at this point.

Note that it IS a live-action movie comparison. I have seen very few comparisons for animation/anime, although I have downloaded a few to see. From what I noticed, everything is just... sharp. Can't say there's more detail like what a live-action/CGI would show, but just... bold colours and line work.

If it's a BD of a normal TV series, you probably can't or won't see any improvement. Of a higher budget production like a movie or good OVA, vast detail is revealed and lines and everything else made clearer. Then again, it makes more difference depending on the screen you're using as well. All of my watching tends to be done on either HDTVs or large monitors.
