OK, so I've seen tonight a short movie -- Courtesy of of SciFi/SyFy -- that just provided a "WOW!" for me that reminded me of just why I like Japanese Anime: It's variety and the willingness in some quarters to go art house and avoid cookie cutter crap. Such is my reaction to Negadon: The Monster From Mars. Coming in at under 30 minutes the producers obviously didn't have much of a budget to work with. I don't mind, since SciFi/SyFy obviously wouldn't have broadcast it if they couldn't have shoehorned it into a 30 minute block; but I am quite curious about something and so I'd like to pose a question here on the forum in the hopes that someone (A) either knows the answer, or (B) can direct me to somewhere that I can satisfy my curiosity. WHY THE DEVIL DID SciFi/SyFy CHOOSE TO AIR SUCH A FILM AFTER SOMETHING LIKE Rave Master? Call me hopelessly biased, but I don't think that the people who would like the drek that is Rave Master would find anything to be of the remotest interest in Negadon. They'll be turned off by it just as much as I am turned off by Rave Master; this I firmly believe. So I don't understand what the reasoning is of the people at SciFi/SyFy. Was this the only 30 minute short that they had the rights to broadcast? But even if that was the case, what prevented them from broadcasting it after Mobile Suit Gundam 00? (It would even sort of fit; after all, both feature fighting robots for Christ's sake!) Anyway, if anyone can point me in a direction where I might conceivably find an -- accurate -- answer, then I'll be much obliged.
