Wow this certainly takes me back. I remember reading this series back in the early 90's or so. Very interesting premise. The idea of the "game grid" whereby two contestants duel it out one on one in a game based on their tactical maneuvering for a favorable matchup always fascinated me. Imagine a duel where the competition itself can be anything from fencing with swords to a pillow fight or even sex.
