Hi guys,
I think you guys already knew that Kazuya Minekura-sensei was sick and she is going to a surgery. She is a very strong women as she always shows that she is alright and happy with her life, however, i believe that she still needs our support. Therefore, we have came out with an idea to send our blessing to her. ================================================================================= Objective: To collect 1000 photos of the origami cranes with wishes, wish that Minekura-sensei will get well soon. Outcome: A book that collects the photos and blessing, and it'll be sent (by parcel) to Minekura-sensei. Deadline: 10th Nov 2010 (to be confirmed) Staff: yafuu, Shuichi_Akai, Kyokua Contact: [email protected] Organized by 百度峰倉和也吧, Baidu Kazuya Minekura bar. ================================================================================= An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes (千羽鶴, Senbazuru) will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. (...) In Asia, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person's wish come true. This makes them popular gifts for special friends and family. (from our favorite quoting source, wikipedia) This is how our idea came from. We wanted to collect 1000 origami cranes from 1000 fans, but how to get everyone mail the origami to us? So we decided to only collect the photo/image. That's what we hope you guys can help us with. You can draw, or make the real thing and take a photo of it, or you can make by clay if you want to, or ANY creative way you can think of, to make an origami crane. You can somehow transform Sanzo into the crane, or draw Hakkai riding on the crane, or make Kubota wearing crane-shape eyeglasses, whichever way you want, as long as there's crane(s) in the photo/image. The more creative the better, it's best to think of an idea that makes Minekura-sensei laugh at it. P/S: if you really can't draw, can't fold, can't do art or whatnot, you can just send us the blessing, we will help you to make the origami, however, the quality is not guaranteed LOL. ================================================================================= THE SPECIFICATION This is how the layout will roughly look like. (but not all pages look like that, it really depends on everybody's works.) 
As you can see, there're 2 types of image. 1. Image with the wishes written on. Click me for example (by Shuichi_Akai) The image can be in ANY shape, retangle, triangle, or crane shape if you really want to. However, one of the sides should be in exactly 5cm (or 600px) for example, 6cm (W) x 10cm (L), or 6cm (W) x 3cm (L) The font size should be at least 9pt, don't use typeface that is too fancy, try not to write too much unless you really know how to squeeze the whole entire novel inside that tiny image. For handwritten text, please make sure that your text is readable. Please do not write in language other than English and Japanese. If you wish to write in Japanese but you don't know how to, please contact us and we'll help to do the translation. NEVER USE THE ONLINE TRANSLATOR. P/S: PLEASE PLEASE PLASE make sure that your text is readable and your image is clear enough. 2. Image without the wishes written on. Please include your wishes during submission. Control your word count, try to write not more than 18 words for Englisn, 60 words for Japanese. Image size: 4cm x 4cm (or 500 x 500px), in SQUARE. For those who do not have image editing software with you, or don't know how to use it, you can just submit the original image and leave the cropping job to our staff. However, please note that when you are snapping the shoot, try to keep a longer distance between the object and the lens, include more space in your image, so that our staff got more space to work with. NOTES: 1. Format: jpeg, png, gif, psd, pdf, tiff. Resolution: 300dpi 2. again, PLEASE PLEASE PLASE make sure that your text is readable and your image is clear enough. No motion blur, no underexposed, no overexposed, unless that's your design concept. 3. Please keep the original file because our staff might need to ask for amendment. Remarks: HOW TO SUBMIT Please fill in the registration form and attach your photo/image, send to our staff via email: [email protected] Our staff will respond to you upon receive. If you never get our respond within 7 days, do email us again. 1000 is a lot, and requite a lot of hard work and time, however i believe that it's not that difficult to gather 1000 Minekura-Fans and make just a crane. We really hope that you can lend us your time and your works, take part in this activity. Or even help us to spread the news via Twitter, Plurk, forums, Facebook or whatnot. We will first layout those images nicely like a published book or fanbook, and then print it out, get a perfect binding. We will post out the photo of the final outcome once it's done. 2. Do we need to pay or donate in order to take part? NO. It's totally FREE. This is not a porn site spam, no cheating, i swear. 3. Seriously, i can't draw, and i don't know how to fold origami. Ask google and youtube. 4. A THOUSAND ORIGAMI CRANES?!!! So i need to make 1000 cranes alone?! You only need to make ONE. Our intention is to collect 1000 cranes from 1000 different people. 5. Can I help? You're more than welcome to help but I afraid you need to know how to read and write Chinese because currently our studio forum is in Chinese (most of our staff is from China and Taiwan) We need 10 translators who can do English/Chinese to Japanese translation and 10 layout artists who know how to use indesign, illustrator and photoshop.
