I'm looking for anime that is all out action. I also like the kind of sketch anime that is in the 'Kill Bill' anime section, and the skateboarding section of 'The Animatrix'. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Oh sure.... Give a newb the worst anime on Earth to watch and be weened on... Real couth....
If you're really into the sketchy styles, there are a few titles to recommend but the story could be thin. And if you want to counter the skecthyness with clean-cut action with good story, there's more to choose from.
For the first, Ninja Scroll (Yes, this is one of the few good ones and a complete classic. However, NEVER watch the series. If you're any form of Christian it is utterly sacriligious....) and there's also Samurai Deeper Kyo, and though this is kind of cleaner, the Samurai X OVAs. The OVA's are particularly awesome and put the cartoony anime series to shame in my opinion.
And I guess, if you want to broaden out, Hellsing is awesome for action, but it's clean-cut, and nearly sketchless.
Hope I could be of service.

haha, well he was looking for action and just because there not rated well by anime news network doesn’t mean they can't be enjoyed by a newbie . I remember when I first started I loved the tekken movie and street fighter alpha, now of course if I go back and watch them I wouldn't enjoy them as much because I have seen alot better anime, but I think those title are good for starting out.

You do know there ARE many good animes that have action as well?
Here are some Non-Mecha series off the top of my head:
Ghost in the shell (2 movies + 2 TV series)
Witch Hunter Robin
Noir (Guns & Girls)
GunGrave (Mafia style)
Several Samurai/Ninja series are ok too, such as some mentioned by Aicerg, ninja scroll, samurai deeper kyo, samurai champloo
Well, almost all mecha genre series have intense action, so maybe try some of the high rated ones of this genre.

Aren`t you mixing NS with Ninja Ressurrection?
And one more thing. The Ninja Scroll movie is GREAT and I would reccomend it for begginers, but please, for the love of God, DO NOT get the Ninja Scroll TV series, and certainly DO NOT mix Ninja SCROLL with Ninja RESSURRECTION, because they are 2 different movies, with NR being, probably, the worst anime EVER.
And as for begginers, why dont you go with Fullmetal Alchemist almost everyone gets into that show. And of course there is Rurouni Kenshin and who could forget Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (this is the SECOND movie, DO NOT get the first movie). Anyway, those are the movies I started out with and I turned out OK

As for sketchiness, the only anime I can think of are Kai Doh Maru and Spring and Chaos, which both aren't action at all. Try some different genres, all-action is so...blah.

I will second/third/whatever the suggestion of ninja scroll. The main character bleeds so much you'd think he was a bloodbank.

Think you are confusing Rurouni Kenshins OAV's with KYO. Anyways as far as i know they don't have any sort of relation with one another. I would recommend a series out now...Samurai Champloo....isn't real sketchy...even though the fight scenes have a bit of that....and even though it isnt all out fighting....there is a good amount which is blended in with some light humor.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Gensomaden Saiyuki. That one's not sketch comedy, but there's plenty of action.

Gotta agree w/ ya darkhunter. Ghost in the shell has mostly talking (boring) And Noir is 2x the boredom + the lame gun fighting...
I think u should try Samurai X or a anime w/ action but also a little comedy... dont wana fall asleep during an action part. Also try Eternity (manga). Lotta blood gore action + comedy
