I went to a local Wal-Mart and saw that they had a bunch of DVDs for $4.50. The titles included Flash Dance, 48 Hours, Another 48 Hours, Clue, The President's Daughter, Orange County...

And Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie.

This really surprised me, since I thought that Yu-Gi-Oh was pretty popular and wouldn't end up in the 4 buck bin. Did 4Kids lose money on the movie itself? Is it losing popularity? Or do you think this was because there was a surplus in DVD manufacturing?

Or maybe it's some sort of stripped-down version of the movie for all I know... Any thoughts?

It could be that someone just put it in there. If not, then Wal Mart might have overstocked on the movie and decided they wanted to clear the shelves to make room for something else.

The walmart I went to had it on sale for 14.99. Don't you just love going to dvd stores just to look at if they have certain DVDs even though you know you ain't buying it.

My Wal-mart still has it for the same price they've always had it for... $14ish dollars.

Chances are, that at Wal-mart and especially in their DVD shelves, someone picked it up, looked at it and just randomly put it down somewhere else, regardless of price or location.

When I see anime really cheap I don't say "Why's it so cheap?" What I say is "Haha you sucker."

Someone dropped it there. Happens all the time and it would be the 5.50 bin not 4.50.

Edit: Sorry, I had to correct my grammer.

Nope.

There are two bins in my local store: One is the 5.50 bin, which used to be inside the electronics department but is now next to the cashier area. This one has random cheapy movies and such.

Then there's the 4.50 bin, which is just outside the electronics area, next to the poster/birthday card section. This one had count them, THREE boxes filled with all those movies I mentioned. So there's no way that anyone just put it there.

$5? What a rip-off. The Yu-gi-oh movie was HORRIBLE (and I do like the show itself). It was just a really really really bad movie. It did terrible at the box office, so it wouldn't suprise me at all if it were going for $5, or less.

Probally that's why the film is in the Wal Mart's bargin bin. The film was a total failure, and the artistic and overall quality of the film is sub-par.

I went back today, hoping to grab it... and guess what? It's gone. In fact a lot of the movies in the boxes were cleared out... I did get Orange County, Vanilla Sky and Beverly Hills Cop, though.

I went inside the electronics department (where the videos are) and guess how much did the VHS version of Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie cost?

FIFTEEN DOLLARS.

Wal-Mart must've made a mistake or something... Yeouch. Ah well.

Ok, I concede. There is a 4.88 bin. The reason you didn't find it the second time was because it wasn't supposed to be there in the first place.

I still think that you're wrong. Yu-Gi-Oh is veeeeeeeeeeeeery popular around these parts. I find it very believable that the entire stock flew off the shelves in a few days. Eh. We shall never know.

Perhaps it was a regional thing, now that crossed my mind.

One section of Wal-Mart had too much Overstock of Yu-Gi-Oh, and to cut losses, they were given authorization to just dump them into the bin.
