I recently "discovered" this series and found it to my liking. Although it was very good, I couldn't help but notice that there were definitely some things that weren't the greatest. Although I have no complaints about the story itself, I thought it was strange how the art style changed so drastically in the fifth volume. I was hoping that it was temporary, but it seems to continue onto the sixth this way.
Please give me your opinion on this series, its art and storyline.
(Spoilers welcome!)

I just got the first volume of The Wallflower today!
So far I like it... the story is kind of weird but I like it.
Also what do you mean when you say the art style changes? Like how does it change?

If you noticed, the artist's style is very different from other shojo styles. It took me a little while to adjust to it, but I like it now. However, in the fifth volume it starts becoming a little mainstream. Ranmaru, for example, has smaller eyes and everyone's faces are a bit longer--mainly because of the eyes. Furthermore, their mouths--the lips are now completely drawn in, and are thinner. I am disappointed by this...
The story is interesting but not the best, so the art was what kept it going for me. Of course, I am still interested in what happens later, but...why? That's all I want to know.
(What I mean is, why so sudden? Many styles gradually change but this was abrupt.)

Whoa! She did change everything for Volume 5. I think the changes are great. The eyes are much more clear and open. I thought the characters looked absolutely stunning.
The guys do look like themselves to me though. I didn't find the character changes to be drastic enough to make me mad. Artists are always changing little by little.

I guess you could say that it's gotten clearer, but the quality of the Del Rey manga improved. That might actually be it. I did like the earlier volumes better, but I made a big deal about it because I haven't read shojo titles in a while...
It is still good though!
