I wasn't sure where to put this post so I just put it in anime. Is there any chance that the edit list will have a section for the naruto dub any time soon?

The edit list compares TV edits to English DVD version. We won't be able to do that until after the English DVDs are out.

and before you ask...

Why not compare to the original version?

Because we don't have the resources to translate the anime and there's no way in hell we're relying on fansubs for something like that. No disrespect to fansubbers, but mistakes are fairly common in fansubs, and the only way to know if we have a perfect fansub or not is to translate itself, which brings us back to the above point.

But that would make a great human interest article! The struggles you guys have in trying to translate a fansub and the hits and misses you have. I see a new column now:

. . . and the masses will come. Laughing

To dub, or not to dub--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to fansub
The kana and kanji of outrageous Japanese
Or to take arms against a sea of kanji
And by translating solve them. To dub, to sub--
No more--and by a sub to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That raws are heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To dub, to sub--
To sub--perchance to fandub: ay, there's the rub,
For in a sub or dub what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.

*snickers madly* That was beautiful, abunai. Anime hyper

Though really, it's true about fan translations and accuracy. I don't even necessarily completely trust my own translations I've made for stuff, let alone those by a random fan I don't know with who knows how much (or little) experience with the language...
