I just watched the first 2 episodes of the new Gaiking anime, and I gotta say it was pretty good. Doesn't break any new ground but it's a nice throwback to the days when super robots reigned supreme (and they gave Gaiking what every super robot needs, a catchy theme song). Anyway I got to thinking, and with this remake along with New Getter Robo, and if you want to count it Mazinkaiser, is remaking/re-interpreting old super robot shows going to be a new trend? Are we going to start seeing new versions of series like Raideen or Ideon? Just wondering if this Gaiking series is a one shot thing, seeing as how I don't know how popular the old show was I don't know know why they chose to remake it unless it's a precursor to seeing similar productions in the near future.
