Having recently checked DVD listings I was wondering whether on not volume 6 of Scrapped Princess will come with an artbox since the first did not. It looks like a no-go though unfortunately all I see listed is another figure. Looks like I'm stuck with 6 loose volumes. Sad

Did Bandai not expect the series to do very well or something? Maybe they are just being cheap and planing on rereleasing the series with extras and better sound later on like Bebop? If so I'd be rather upset. Mad

Because You Touch Yourself At Night!

I don't know. I first thought that maybe it was because they released each volume in a special edition, with a figurine, but I remembered what they did with Ghost In The Shell and they did release a box art for that so your guess is as good as mine.

BUT I do remind you that not every anime series has a box. A lot of the more recent stuff does but not all. I mean Kaze No Yojimbo didn't have a box. I'm pretty sure we can start a list thread about what series don't have a box to hold them but that isn't really legal in this forum.

Your "WHY" question is something that probably only Bandai can answer.

I think there will be a box with Vol. 6; other volumes mention the figure, but not the "collectors' box" in the information. And, as I've said in other threads about this, the LE box for Vo. 3 fits six discs fairly well. I don't think it'll get a re-rerelease; it's a good series imho, but it's not as popular as Eva or Bebop. I don't know about Bandai's expectations; I think that if they weren't expecting much, they wouldn't have bothered with the LEs or the figures. If the sales aren't good, people probably won't shell out the big bucks for the LEs.

EDIT:

I think Bandai thought this series would do very well.

Though it seems they didn't think it would do well enough to be worth including any decent disc extras, like commentaries, art galleries, interviews, or even stillframe trivia notes on the weapon names that many of the characters have. Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad

Isn't the last volume suppose to come with an artbox? I just check the releases for this series and here what ANN said for Volume 6 Volume 6 limited
That sounds like it comes with a box to hold in all of the releases. Maybe it's like GITS:SAC where the box to hold them all was at the very end.

I think Bandai thought this series would do very well. I mean look at all the limitied edition volumes. It appears that bandai believe that many would buy these limited edition version and therefore they would make a whole lotta money. Also didn't volume one come with an artbox to hold them all? I am somewhat confused now looking at the DVD releases. Volume 1 limited
I don't know if that helps you or what I am now confused......btw I don't have any of these volumes I am just going off what ANN has.

Each volume also had a limited edition that came with a PVC figure.

No, volume one did come in a "box" but it was a shoddy plastic thing that was only made to hold the one volume and the figure. Same deal with the other SE's for 2-5. I bought the first two in special editions because of the larger figurines. From the pictures I've seen of the box for volume six it looks simmiliar to all the others, I could be wrong I suppose, but the only true way to tell is to hold it in my hands and examine it. I can only do that once it's released in January.
Here is the picture I found.

Bandai is notoriously unresponsive to me when I email them questions otherwise I would have that option. I tried asking them about their plans for Kaze no Yojimbo because it looks good and would consider picking it up if there was a set or an artbox for the series. Might have to bite the bullet and give it a try.

Likewise I waited forever for something for that series but is wasn't very popular I guess, so I just found some the volumes for as cheap as I could and when from there, it would be nice to have an artbox, but I am alright without.
