I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to put this, so mods, please move it if I messed up.

I just looked up at the calendar and the date reads 6/7/06. I guess the days just kind of flew past me, but I was expecting some kind of big contest or something from ANN on 6/6/06. Not that we're a bunch of Satanists (no offense to any Satanists who may be reading this) but the date won't read 6/6/6 for another 1,000 years...

[EDIT: Changed the title to have the [OT] label. I really don't know how this thread will go, but we'll see. If it gets too out of hand, I'll lock it. -TK]

I saw this article(url is not working right now)off the Mirror UK, it was about this child who was born on 6/6/6, the mother was induced for 6 days, was born at 6am, weighed 6 pounds 6 oz. and they named it DAMIEN.

is this an Omen

edit:
I know it isn't related to anime but when I saw this thread, that story just poped in my head, I wish I could get the damn link to work. I just thought it was interesting thats all.

edit 2:
Finally the site went back up, here is the link
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=17188458&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=born-at-6am-on-06-06-06--his-mum-was-induced-for-6-days--he-weighs-6lbs-6oz-and-he-s-called---d-name_page.html

Hm.. not exactly related to anime or ANN, really... But anyway, if you want to tie the whole 666 phenomenon into anime, feel free to post something in the Anime forum.

You're sure it's not 100?
If we're going to make this thread popular, why not move it now?

Ok, sure. Moving this to the Anime forum. Those of you now reading this, feel free to discuss any tie-ins of the 666 phenomenon and anime. Try not to go too off-topic, though.

Due to its popularity and whole fad-dom, I would say it ties in with anything in pop culture. It can be attributed to almost anything, and I don't think it would do any real good to tie it in with anime.
Nor do I think its a phenomenon at all, but that's just me. I'm not a superstitious person.

Now that I think about it, I took my greek lit final on that day...

I found it funny that the last volume of Ghost Stories was released on 6/6/06...kind of fitting that a series about demons, ghosts, occult rituals and all that fun stuff gets released on that day. Maybe I'll actually get my copy from DDD sometime over the weekend or next week Sad

As a side note, real Satanists don't actually worship Satan or have anything to do with 666....(nitpick).

Speaking of 100, my grandfather just turned 100; he was born on 6/06/1906. And I was born on Friday the 13th. So OT I fail. Confused

Just fyi, 6/6/6 means nothing in Japanese culture. Rather, 4 (shi = death) and 9 (ku = kurushii = suffering) have bad meanings. In hospitals they skip them because...well who wants to be hospitalized in a room labeled "death," right?

... I hate to the people in the year 666, or the 6/6/6, but chances the number 6 wasn't as widely used yet.

For what's worth, 6/6.../06 is just is a ploy, a very, bad, marketing ploy.

THANK YOU!
You beat me to the punch, haha. The date was 6/6/6 two thousand years ago.

Yeah, I've seen parking spaces and rooms that don't have the 4 or 9 on them. Mainly though, they don't use the 4 because 9 isn't as bad. Sometimes they won't have a 4th floor.
