I've yet to see or hear anything about the 4Kids adaptation of Ojamajo Doremi, so I'm not sure of the censorship treatment it got. What, if anything, was censored or changed? I can't see a series like this getting massive One Piece or Cardcaptors edits, since this is about as squeaky-clean as children’s anime comes.

A list of all the cuts in the first episode. I'm sure there's better if you look around though. Looks like the usual pointless 4kids cuts/edits though. The main reason I don't think it's talked about that much... is because the series isn't really that popular with serious anime viewers in the US. At least this is how it seems to me.

From reading that page, I gather it got off pretty good. The only edits that seemed really silly were censoring Doremi sticking out her tongue and the new transformation catchphrase being changed to, “Fala Dila Dong-Ding, Now I am a Witchling.” Like you said, there's been almost no talk of this series at all, and I think it's probably because it's not even close to being the type of show that appeals to your Average Joe cable-TV-only anime fan of One Piece, Naruto, and the like. I've heard it's getting pretty bad ratings, too. |

The entire 4Kids TV Block has been iffy at best. Some markets reportedly air it on Sundays rather than Saturdays, and i've known at least 5 instances in my area where it got trumped for Fox Sports presentations. Plus it doesn't really qualify under that whole "Gotta be 3 Hours of Educational TV" crap mandated by the Federali. |
