Well, does it? If so do you take advantage of it? My old town didn't, but I moved recently and now there is an abundant section. I mean, I could always just cross-loan from other libraries, but pick up and go is more convenient.

Yes they have. Just a few well-known titles like Inuyasha, Barefoot Gen and Akira, but since manga finally's starting to get popular over here I'm sure they'll add more series. They also have several American/European titles. I just flap trough them when I'm waiting for the bus an have got a few minutes to spare though, I never loan them.

There are manga and comic books available at my current town's library. However, for some reason they are spread between the childrens, young adult and general fiction in one branch, and then some end up at another branch. I tried to borrow from there once, but it seemed the volumes of the same series were scattered throughout all those areas. Volume 7 & 8 of O!MG were in young adult, but 9 was in fiction, and who knows what might have been in childrens. It was a bit too frustrating for me to want to deal with (that much disorder just makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.)
I might give it another try once I move this weekend, see if the bigger city I'm moving to has a better and better organized selection. |

Mine does, but it only has a few titles and only a few volumes from those titles and they are in terrible condition.

yes it does, about 2 shelves. But then I was strolling around the fiction section and found several hidden there. They have problems. I always go to the one 20 minutes away from me anyway. They have 100's of volumes.

My local library does. If only because I gave them some titles that I was tired of or had replaced due to the fact they were originally released American style and I replaced them with the way they were orignally meant to be.

As of now, my local library has a really crappy manga selection with only super-popular stuff like Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, and some semi-popular stories like Ultra Maniac and Gravitation. But I've seen a LOT of manga in the back recentley, so I think they might be clearing a few shelves to make a "Manga" section, instead of just hiding it in the corner. But you can order a lot of manga from libraries all over your state, you don't have to just settle for what's at the one closest to you. This is just a sampling of my state's manga selection, since a lot of manga isn't listed as "Japan - Graphic Novels - Translations into English". Take the Negima sereis, for example. It's listed there as "Magic - Fiction" and nothing else.

The library by my parents' home had a few manga when I was there last, which was awhile ago. I was fairly impressed that there was any, since it's a fairly small, country library. Like other people, what my library had was mainly the really big titles, pretty much all shounen that I can remember.

the main libary that i've gone to lately had like 3 shelfs of manga but they where all the more common titlels you see every where.

Mine stocks mostly shoujo manga. Stuff like Peach Girl, Kodocha, and Fushigi Yuugi. In fact, the only "shounen" manga I've seen in my library's manga section is Dragonball. And lots of Dragonball too. Well, the fact that the people I see there reading manga are mostly girls and little boys would probably explain it all.

I haven't been to my local library lately, but I know my school library mostly carries the How to Draw Manga series. I wouldn't be surprised if they started carrying actual graphic novels next year.

My library has a small but good, varied collection, and most of the volumes are even in deccent shape. The only problem is that the volumes I want or the beginning volumes of a series are always checked out.

My library has a pretty good selection. I work as a library clerk and while I cannot directly order titles I can make suggestions. Most of the time the librarians do take them with some exceptions. For what ever reason I cannot get them to order "Only the Ring Finger Knows" but they ordered the entire Gravitation series. Weird.
On our shelf we have popular stuff like Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Neigima, and Naruto. We also have literary titles like Buddha and Sexy Voice and Robo. And then we have more mature titles like Club9, Apocalypse meow, Dragon Head and my personal favorite: Lady Snowblood. The other nice thing is that if we don't have a particular volume I know that one of the other branches will. |

Shall I take a moment to brag? My library now has over 700 titles of manga alone. They also have a large collection of American comics and even stock some of the monthly comic releases. They have always stocked all the manga together but now the collection is so big that they are splitting it into adult, young adult, and juvenile.
