It looks like no one in the two links you provided thought that this information was factual, either.

It would be a true shame if they did this, however. A damn shame.

Hmmmm Question

Does anybody have facts to prove the rumors?

I mean all of this it is just opinon and it doesn't prove anything at all. Accept there a posibility that 80% it is rumor, and 20% true.

I think a third season was confirmed in an article somewhere... Don't remember right now. But the title is complete hype.

Wow. This one's an old one.

The facts:

-Gundam SEED Eternity, in both of its incarnations (the one with the blonde kid & the Patlabor-painted Gundam and the one with Athrun & Meyrin having children), is false. Completely false.

-There is a Gundam SEED movie due out next year, which will continue the adventures of Athrun, Shinn, and Kira. Nothing further is known about it, except that Houko Kuwashima's somehow involved (reprising her role as Stella, presumably for flashbacks, but you never know).

-Outside of the SEED movie, the only Gundam SEED-related anime confirmed for production at the moment are the currently-running Gundam SEED Destiny Special Edition and the C.E.73 Stargazer ONA. There has been no word on a season 3 whatsoever.

I would like to know that as well. You seem to be well-informed on these Gundam Seed rumors. You seem to know a lot about the Gundam series in general as well.

I remember reading that the next Gundam series would not be SEED related.

The odd thing about me is that when I find something I like, I dive wholeheartedly into it and make every motion to learn all I can. I'm like a living time paradox; in only a short amount of time, I'll become an obscene expert on a topic of interest, all without shutting myself away as a complete hikkomori to do so.

I don't know how I do it either.

But yes, Gundam just happens to be one of those topics. Mind you, I'm not blindly fanatical. I strongly dislike Wing and SEED Destiny, and I'm about the only Gundam fan in the known universe that's able to see the flaws in Tomino's character writing. BUT, it is still an anime franchise I enjoy immensely despite those "setbacks."

There is a rumor going around that Fullmetal Alchemist director Seiji Mizushima will be directing a Gundam series set to replace Ayakashi Ayashi in that special timeslot (the same one both Gundam SEEDs, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Blood+ all ran in) in fall, 2007. Details beyond that are sparse, but the fact that all major Gundam SEED anime have been directed and written by Mitsuo Fukuda and Chiaki Morosawa respectively, plus the lesser note that Bandai execs have recently made stern promises that "new major UC Gundam anime will come eventually" have naturally led to the speculation of a new non-SEED Gundam in the works. Naturaly, assuming the rumor is even true to begin with.

And on a lesser note, novelist Harutoshi Fukui (of recent Lorelei fame) has made a lot of noise about how he really, really hopes his upcoming Gundam novel will get animated for Gundam's 30th anniversary, but that won't be until 2009.

Well SEED Stargazer has different director than the first two series, so it's entirely possible that the third SEED series will have a different director as well. I would love that, getting to see the same universe explored by a different head is always fun and leads to new things. Stargazer I think shows that pretty well.

The rumors for the new UC series have been around since roughly the midway point of Destiny. I don't doubt we'll see another UC related series soon, but I do doubt it'll be a full length series. I'm guessing an OVA at best. With the success of the CE world in Japan, getting a third series is obvious, but I don't think we'll see one until at least the tail end of '07, at the soonest. I would love to see Mizushima direct a Gundam series, more so a CE series, his works are always pretty great.

Note that I said "major" SEED anime. Meaning television series and feature films. Stargazer is simply a three-part, 45-minute ONA. And though it's not out of the question to have someone new come in and fill Fukuda & Morosawa's shoes, the fact that they have had complete run over all of the main SEED anime to date does more strongly hint that a Mizushima-directed Gundam would be a departure from SEED than a continuation.

Thing is, we have a UC OVA now, with MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079. Despite this, Bandai execs are still promising "a new UC anime," suggesting that their promises hint more towards a major television series or other such work on a much bigger scale than another small OVA. And while CE is indeed riding on a wave of success, so is UC Gundam, which has pretty much always been "the" Gundam timeline, and virtually constantly popular to some larger degree than the alternate universes. And with the Zeta movies, MS IGLOO OVAs, new video games, and sudden rash of classic UC suits seeing revisions in model kit and action figure forms (Char's Counterattack HCM Pros, Master Grade F91 and Crossbone, etc.), it seems Bandai might certainly be gearing up for something big on that front.
