Folks is talkin' about it again, so here's my take on it; it's a beautiful triumph of style over substance, which is not, in my book, a bad thing. The plot is built on a series of plot hooks could have come from any overheated melodrama for young women, but the imagery uses slick and flashy postmodern tricks to jazz around with its motifs, rather like a hot jazz ensemble improving on a hackneyed tune.
