I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the wonky sculpture, and off-model drawings of bug-eyed schoolgirls and characters from children's series didn't really do a whole lot to change anyone's mind.

What negative stereotypes and misconceptions? I didn't think mainstream Americans gave a crap about anime outside Miyazaki or what's on TV

Yeahh...no offence to the people behind this but if you want to advertise anime to the general populus you should focus on the positive traits of it...for one it wouldn't have hurt if one of them had been able to make some impressive fanart.

Oh well they did something that's at least a step in the right direction I suppose.

Why for the love of 2D does everyone have to complain again?? AARRGGG! They did something sweet, cool, and had fun, enjoy their passion for christ sake instead of complaining that their work isn't professional level quality!? What did you expect!? :-/

Also, peach-pit is 100% awesome, I like that drawing <3

Where's Kenshiro, the man who took the sadness of humanity unto himself and fought to save it? Where's Kinnikuman, the klutz who became so great that his father regretted wanted to ever strangle him when he was an infant? Or, at the very least, why didn't they all go into why these characters are great? I think it's a bit concerning that the only one who goes into any reason why this character is good is the fan of Beyond the Boundary.

They're high school students, so who can blame them? Although, a better choice would've been if they each just wrote a few paragraphs on why they liked this show or character.

On the subject of children's series, I think those can sometimes be the ones that have the most interesting things to say about life. In terms of Gash Bell and Shugo Chara, that's doubly so. At least from the Gash Bell display, however, I don't know if the kid who made it got that point. BTW, the point (at least from the manga) was spoiler[that hardship is what brings meaning to life].

The two dominant ones are that it's all Pokemon, or that it's all a bunch of porn and giant robots.

Because other people in their school are probably gonna say worse stuff to them because of this. The Amu drawing isn't too bad, but the others aren't the greatest; that Beyond the Boundary sculpture defies description.

Then again, I might be a little too critical of all this.

Well.... at least it was coming from a good place. Personally I'm just kind of happy to see someone drew Gash Bell, since that was the first manga I ever read as a kid and it did actually cause me to look at life from a few different angles back then.

Looks like they had good intentions, but went about it the wrong way. That one person with the paragraph had the right idea. Yes they could the fanart, but should have written reasons as to why they are special to them and what they taught them. I don't know if they allowed official pictures but I would have used that due to my lack of drawing skills.
