I was wondering if anybody could tell me a site that keeps track of Anime DVD boxsets and all single DVD sales figures of how many copies of DVD's are sold.

You're missing his point: you're not going to get this data unless you pay for it. Even if you paid to have the data pulled, you will have to agree not to share it (though legally, they've no leg to stand on but would you risk the legal bills?) to the public. What you're requesting is known as Point of Sale transactions and this data is tightly guarded. Check book? More like second mortgage, given the starting price for what you're asking for starts at $20,000. Now, if you want something generalized: Overblown statistical scare tactics regarding 2010 Or (a little older) 2007 was also doom and gloom, but yet here we are today! You won't find exact numbers on titles sold, for the record. Good luck. |

Japanese sales figures are much easier to come by. Some are posted in the forums at mania.com, and there's an extensive archive of these data at a place that must remain nameless here. Do a Google search for "anime dvd sales in japan" to get some good sources.

Specifically the main Mania thread for that is this: http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=99859 And one especially interesting post in thread (it is 34 pages long...) is this ("2000-2010 TV Anime Sales 10k+"): http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1827553&postcount=209 |

Both Air and Clannad sold more than Kanon. I am sad.
WTF so did Love Hina! Freaking LOVE HINA! What crap. Now I'm just pissed. Anyways, I do wish we had access to American releases like we do Japanese. I am curious as to why sales figures are so sacred. Honestly, I think if someone saw that a show they like, but haven't bought yet wasn't doing too good, they'd buy it sooner than they planned to pump it up some. |

S'all business. Companies can make a profit by collecting the information and selling it to companies who need the info to see how what they're selling compares to they're competitors and whatnot. |

I wish all sales data were like the movies one. Just hate that business is keeping something secret which should be made public.

Same here, although I can understand why they keep the figures secret. There's the same type of thing going on in the publishing business, where it's really hard to get good numbers on how many copies a book has sold unless they release a figure to brag (like "over 9 million copies sold!"). |

Thanks for that link! Very interesting list, as there are some titles on it that ended up doing much better than I would have thought; I would never have guessed that Mahoromatic averaged over 14k per volume, for instance, or that Angel Beats! was an almost SAO-level hit.
