I wonder how much damage Shizuo caused with all the vending machines he wrecked. This could be another reasons many foreigners envy to live in Japan.

I won't be surprised if, in-universe, there's someone in City Hall with the task of investigating the mysterious and constant destruction of city's vending machines and news stands.

I seem to recall that in the books, his boss ends up paying for damages, and then takes the money out of Shizuo's pay.
