Okay, the more I read about this the more I wanna watch it. I think it's kind of interesting having a deaf main character as well.

Nicolas is deaf .. yes.. but he also has a speech impairment..
i couldn't wait for the next episode after the 1st one.. so i read ahead with the manga version.. the series is still on going..
i'm curious where they will end the anime.. given it will be a 12 episode series...

They say conversation relies on two things: the ability to hear what is being said and to vocalise what is heard into something intelligible for the return.
If Nicolas has been deaf for all or the vast majority of his life, he can probably remember what human speech used to be like but the lack of an updated reference in his mind and the inability to check what he can say using functioning hearing makes his "speech impediment" unsurprising.

It's interesting that a deaf Handy Man is one of the starring characters of Gangsta. I wonder how Nicholas will fare in hostile situations despite his handicap?
