Because Macross 2 isn't regarded as part of the canon. Shoji Kawamori wasn't involved with that series.

The only thing bad about this game so far is Bamco trying to get you to pay $20 extra for more songs, this is probably going to have the Vita's built in custom soundtrack built in so it's best to save your money and get a standard edition.
