Interestingly, on their facebook page, Gempak Starz is not gonna license Love Live! School idol project manga due to "inappropriate content".

Wow, that's interesting. In Indonesia, almost every manga is easily published without any Shonen Jump Weekly complains over the content. Even some adult manga (non erotic) is saved from silly banning with just Adult Manga (Komik Dewasa) mark on it.

to MrTerrorist: They replied "Original Love Live School Idol Project tak terjemah sebab kandungan 'tidak berapa sesuai'" which basically means they don't translate it because content is inappropriate... not that they don't license it (maybe they already got the license but can't translate it, who knows?)...

I'll see if they reply my question on whether they will release chinese translation because this restriction is usually for Malay-translated book... if yes then I'll buy malaysian chinese release, if no then I'll buy taiwanese chinese release (from Kadokawa Taiwan) and try to figure out the words being used (because taiwanese chinese is same with malaysian chinese but uses different characters -- simplified VS traditional) Razz

or maybe look into Kinokuniya and just straight forward buy japanese release, lol... xD I believe the japanese sentences in the manga won't be too hard to understand (from someone who uses chinese as second language who could know japanese sentences meaning by looking at the kanji being used plus few common sense on the particles in hiragana) ... besides that, それは高校生向け漫画でしょう? (that's manga for high schoolers right?) xD high schooler muke manga shouldn't be too hard to understand...

to FukuchiChiisaia: it's not complaint from japan (heck, Kadokawa took over Gempak Starz so basically most of the thing is automatically licensed between Kadokawa and Gempak Starz, including "locally translated Japanese manga" and "Japanese translated local comic"...)

it's more like a complaint between Gempak Starz (translator/publisher) and the government (KDN - Kementerian Dalam Negeri / Ministry of Home Affairs) ... the same department under KDN that regulates film censorship is also regulating books censorship... I did ask and wait Gempak Starz to answer, whether they could negotiate with KDN to allow inappropriate content... like what they did to "Komik Seram" (Horror Comic) series... (Horror comics are originally not allowed to publish, but now allowed with warning on cover stating that it's for 18+ only)

also, "Bungou Stray Dogs" manga was released as "Ejen Luar Biasa" (something like "Mysterious Agent") and it stated that the name is changed with approval from both Japan and KDN because the exact Malay translation of title is inappropriate (something like "Anjing Liar Sastera" ... literally "Wild Dogs of Literature") ... note that part "with approval from both Japan and KDN"... KDN is the one who controls books censorship... Not only contents but also title...

there's some scene in some manga translation where the skirt length is increased, though iirc it's not Gempak Starz release... I was like "what the hell" when I know they increased the skirt length because of censorship because I'm short skirt lover, and many people wear short skirt in real life here (including malay girls -- though usually only seen in city) ... by short, I meant above the knee, where we could actually do a real panchira if they're on stairs/escalators...
