I do love the idea of "it's okay for boys to like 'girly' things and not be ashamed/embarrassed." I doubt this series will delve into that theme with much depth but all the same it's good to see it at least acknowledged.

My main concern with this show is that I think it will just be a gimmick. I don't understand why they didn't just do a show about all these Sanrio characters. Or at least if these boys had a moe look to them and make it like a magical girl type thing but with boys and Sanrio mascots, that would have been cool. This seems like it might just be some kind of cheap SOL thing that will hint at but not commit to any kind of BL aspect, while selling some Sanrio merch.

That seems like a pretty cynical way to look at it. According to the shows description, which I'm pretty sure you didn't read, its about boys that like the Sanrio characters and are learning to love them without being embarrassed about it, which is a good thing. Why would it need to be anything else? Its main theme will be about teaching boys that can like things intended for girls and not to be ashamed of it and there's nothing wrong with that. if it does have BL elements, which I hope it won't and if it does i hope it won't be too overt, then there won't be anything wrong with that either because it sells and they can draw in a larger audience with that, I suppose. however, it definitely doesn't need to be anything other than what it says its going to be or else it would defeat the purpose of the show.
Even so, in your case and mine, its best not to assume what the show will and won't contain until it actually airs. It being Slice Of Life seems like a given, given the setting but let's not assume its going to contain boys love subtext just because the cast is mainly, if not all, male.
