I was hoping that this was the announcement for the second season but it is good that there will be more Kabaneri. The first season had a story that was rather fast paced but that works well for an action show.

Didn't they already announce a second season, or is this what they were referring to? I was pretty sure that they indicated a second season, specifically, rather than it being open enough to possibly be a film, making this, as they put it " the middle volume".

They announced in 2016 that a new production would be released in 2018 so most likely they were referring to this film. Hopefully a second season will be made if the film does well.

Given the studio's current schedule, it's not surprising they're making a sequel film instead of a sequel season right now. I think they'll cover enough new ground to keep going though.

Yup, was really glad when it was announced that we'd be getting more. And hopefully since this says middle chapter there'll be that new season after this sequel movie.

Well hopefully we get that later. Especially with Walking Dead falling off a cliff quality wise.
