I have to admit, watching this anime reminds me of the many rom-com series I've watched in recent years.

Out of all the characters so far, I like Alec the most. Even some of her past flashbacks has me wanting to learn more about her. The comedy gets me laughing quite a bit and I think the show is pretty entertaining for the character chemistry.

I wonder how far they plan to develop the romance but this anime definitely has my attention for this Spring. Oh and Alec is a ninja!

Even though it shares a lot of staff with Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun I honestly didn't think this one was gonna hook me, but it damn well did. Though episode 2 was a bit disappointing for its by the numbers approach and I do think Kaoru & Alexandra's interactions have the potential to become tedious. But overall I think this show could be a good bit of fun.

I'm definitely enjoying it so far, although I would echo most of what you said on episode 2 (although I do think that photography battle actually sounds like a fun game). There are definitely some characters and couples I'm more interested in than others. I like Teresa, but I still think Tada himself is a bit too boring, and waiting for him to get a bit more fleshed out.

My big question (considering its an anime original) is how romance-focused its going to get by the end? So far it seems more of a straight up comedy with some romantic elements scattered about (very much in tune with Nozaki-kun), but the ending sequence gives me some pause, and seems a bit more dramatic than the episodes preceding it.

Cats literally lack the receptors for sweet flavors.

Our late tom cat "Sabertooth", who was nothing like his name, definitely liked sweets, especially chocolate, but anything sweet, cookies, cereal, even straight sugar. We had to keep everything sweet put up securely lest he chow down on them. The other cats did eventually try chocolate, but they did not like it at all and appeared to think that something was wrong with Sabertooth. He eventually passed away at a ripe old age while sleeping in my lap.

I'm enjoying this show quite a bit more than I thought I would. I do expect it to take a few more dramatic turns as it progresses, I get the impression that Teresa is more than meets the eye.

I loved episode 2, from start to finish. Did this reviewer think they'd get an entire series out of a chance encounter between a tourist and a random photographer? Classmate, club member, neighbor, it's all good and here, it's all three. Fine by me, the more they interact, the less chance this'll be an Anime Original with a non-ending. And the photo tag game is both fun and a good way to have characters who just meet interact.

I had a large "Aria" vibe from the first two episodes and the third one with its cat-centric POV narration had me looking for the Junichi Sato name anywhere in the credits. It really feels like a show he'd do, only it doesn't look as cheap, I mean looks much better, I mean more polished, I mean it looks like it has a higher budget.

And no speculation at all? Teresa's origins, Tada's deceased parents, that local author who is somehow living in Teresa's small European country? "The third episode with the cat was the best." Yeah, really moved the plot along...

I like the characters but the cat? I have episodes upon episodes of catnanigans in too many Junichi Sato series, I don't want other shows to copy him. Especially anime original productions that don't need filler.

After 3 episodes I keep liking this romantic comedy. I honestly don't see any big missteps in the show that worry me going forward; plus, a formulaic episode here and there seems normal for any show. Tadakoi is a confident show, and I have enough reasons to believe that it can end up being a good to great anime.

Your cat might be an exception but he also could have been attracted to other things in the sweet foods that you fed him, like the texture or fat content. (The linked article talks a little bit about this.) My cat Petey (the fat, sassy tuxedo I mentioned in the article) will eat basically everything, including dry cereal, but I think what he likes is how crunchy it is. He also really likes bread... we have to keep it locked up in a similar way you had to keep sweets away from Sabertooth. We often put anything carby in the microwave with it turned off so Petey doesn't get into it.

How is it that Roman Holiday hasn't been mentioned in the reviews once?

I didn't bring it up because the show hasn't confirmed that plot point like it did with Hina in episode 4 but it was in the back of my mind, so much so that I first watched the movie during the same week as Tada's debut in anticipation.

It's why I said this ending may not be... what we're used to in the series discussion thread.

The show is called Tada Never Falls In Love and now that I look at it, how's one way this series ends? Tada never falls in love. And now I wonder if the reviewer has ever seen Roman Holiday...

I'm honestly surprised that anyone was surprised. It was such a basic trope setup that I figured she was a princess as soon as Alec appeared in the first episode.

o.0 That was about as surprising as the sun coming up in the morning... It's been telegraphed all along.

Well, the very first visual that was released when Doga Kobo announced they are making this show had Teresa wear a light blue gown and a tiara (with her back to Tada-kun, who's holding a camera), so it was telegraphed from the start that Teresa is a princess.

The Roman Holiday homage extends to the OP sequence. Teresa and Tada-kun are riding on a Vespa; Teresa even wears the same clothes (and scarf) as Audrey Hepburn's character in Roman Holiday.

At first I thought she was being sarcastic, but then later she wrote, "At first it just seemed like she was another student in her exchange program, but now it's clear she's probably some type of handler or bodyguard," so I'm not sure what to think now. Her bodyguard/chaperone function has been just as obvious from the start, and it was emphasized in the flashback last week, so I don't know how anyone could get this far in still thinking they were just peers on a school outing.

I'm also shipping Kaoru and Tada now. Twisted Evil

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reviewer be so surprised at something that was so noticeably telegraphed early on in a show. I’m surprised to hear someone being surprised at this. Now you’ve gotten me questioning some things. This is still a solid show at the end of the day, though, and quite charming. Looking forward to seeing what goes down next week with the suitor.
