Personally I thought it was more similar to an Adachi Mitsuru manga (Touch, Cross Game, H2, etc.), as did many people in Japan as well. Over in Taiwan, they enjoyed that Kanano was the first agricultural school to be in the finals since Taiwan's Kano in 1931 (who also lost), the subject of a recent Taiwanese movie.

That's incredible!

I'm not a big baseball fan, but it's always nice when underdogs get a chance, even if they don't win. All the more amazing that this was predicted in a manga over 30 years a go.
