Well, this is unexpected. I enjoyed playing Galaga when I was a child but I never imagined it to have the potential for an interesting story, it was just a better version of it's predecessor Galaxian (just another Space Invaders clone).
However, I enjoy Bojack Horseman and Robot Chicken, but I dislike Orci's work with Transformers, so I have mixed opinions regarding the creative team.
Still, this could be end up cool like Castlevania, but I highly doubt it.

In the initial development, we have focused on creating a solid foundation of the meta universe - building out an intricate and vast tapestry of intergalactic politics, strife, and endless new possibilities.

The established canon—if indeed it can be called this—itself offers drastically few of such possibilities though. Here's what they have to work with: A large insectoid might dive at you! A ship could well be captured! Said ship may later rejoin your flank!
Further progress beyond this point will require pure invention of the writers' part.

I’m waiting for the Dig Dug and Rally-X shows to be announced, thereby giving rise to the Namco Cinematic Universe.

Well, I mean, unlike those ideas, "fighting aliens in space" and turning that into an ongoing story isn't exactly a stretch, it's just that whether or not it's any good will more than likely have practically nothing to do with the source material, which...only really provides the "fighting aliens in space" part.

Reading this article, I just had to add this favorite Tony Stark quote from Marvel's The Avengers

"That man is playing Galaga. Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did."

Still not sure how one can craft a coherent story involving a game that involves spaceships fighting against flying space insects but maybe this might turn out to be good? Who knows?

Galaga is still a great classic score attack game. Very Happy

Makes me wonder if the insects from Galaga '88 will also be implemented in this series?

Did they not learn from Pixels? Rolling Eyes

Seems like they are making Starship Troopers again, but this time it's hordes of flying alien bugs.

Hey, anyone remember a few years ago someone commissioned a bunch of artists to make comics and stories off of these old properties that lasted at most a year? Katamri Damacy, Galaga, Dig Dug are the ones I remember. I even still have their Tshirts.

Please let it not be cgi animation...
I'm dying for some nicely animated pilot boys and dog fights.
Macross can only sustain me for so long.

This is ShadowMachine, not DreamWorks. ShadowMachine have only done stop-motion series like Robot Chicken, Moral Orel, and Titan Maximum, and 2d series like Final Space and Bojack Horseman. So relax.

It a interesting choice considering the studio output. All of them are adult comedy which make me wonder how similar or different this show is to the studio previous works.

I mean it been done before. Pretty much any children book adaptations have bunch of things added to the story, There a entry on TV Tropes called adaptation expansion that go into it.

I mean we just had to wait to see what the final story is. If it going to be similar to Voltron, I might check it out since anime influence animation isn't something that get put often enough.

Well that's unexpected lol. Though I'll be curious to see what they create with it.
