Poor Yossie.
This is especially awful in light of how her brother died back in 2007. |

What do you mean poor Yossie? She put people at risk by drinking and driving even after her brother died in a collision. She deserves no sympathy. |

I think they should cut her some slack on the 'hit and run' portion, since she called and turned herself in so soon after. I mean, still charge her (and for hitting someone, and for driving drunk, of course), but take into account that she admitted to it. A little panicking is understandable, and it's not like she waited until she saw it on the news or something.
Again, not saying to let her off or anything, just maybe dial that one aspect of it back a bit. |

She's fortunate that they only received light injuries.
I don't know how it will effect her career from here on out, but hopefully this was an awakening experience that she will never repeat again. And in the process, teaching others the costs of drinking and driving. |

Japan treats intoxication operation of vehicles (including bicycles, even) very seriously--much more serious that in most other countries. For Japan, there's very little to let her off from and it'll cost her a pretty penny. She knew better, especially after her brother's passing. Also, she still hit and run, considering she didn't pull over to help the cyclist until after she drove off. I got hit by cars twice in Japan and the man who hit me the first time literally drove me to the hospital and covered my bill by his own volition. The second time was a hit-and-run and I only sustained some rib bruising, but had I gotten the guy's license plate, he would've been in a lot of trouble. |

She was my favorite member of Morning Musume, so this really disheartens me to see. Especially considering her brother died in a similar situation I just really don't understand how she could endanger someone else in the same way =/ At least once she calmed down she did confess. She's incredibly lucky it wasn't worse. |

Well, that's why I said still charge her. I don't think she should be let off for the hit and run part COMPLETELY. |

Traffic accidents with personal injuries are much more serious in Japan, than in the West. You just can't leave things to your lawyer, it requires your personal effort in making your victim believe that you accept your responsibility and are willing to provide an appropriate recompense.
Doesn't really matter that she turned herself in later, especially in Japan. Don't know if her celebrity will count for anything (it shouldn't, but we all now how these things go). You never hit pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists in Japan. You are better off ramming into a brick wall or tree than injuring those three groups. |

Just hope she don't injury pev guy because the japan law don't protect again that for some reason. |
