There was a very short period of time in video games where 3d animation wasn't far enough along yet, but computers had gotten good enough to display very tiny low res video, and so there were a few games in that era that used live action recorded actors, usually composited on a still background because videos couldn't be THAT big.. The most famous of these is probably Myst and its sequels. But as soon as 3d progressed far enough it could be rendered in real time, that flew out the window. So it's interesting to me to see what we can do today with a live action filmed game.
