Hmm, the Funimation version comes out December 22, hope it won’t have the same problem (if it not being HDR is not intentional, however the US release is advertised as HDR).

How on earth is Manga unable to get access to their own dub? I mean sometimes these situations arise with old shows, especially when rights and companies change hands, but if the US can fix the problem, surely the UK can manage the same? The dubs are pretty much a pivotal part of the experience for the folks who want those old hyper-violent Manga-era ovas, so it's honestly kind of shocking they would just spit the films in the run up to Christmas out and hope that nobody noticed.
As for the Akira fiasco... yeesh.
Like I know Manga these days mostly serves as a faceless hub for churning out barebones shounen shows, but you would have hoped some passion and effort would have gone into making these titles the best possible release they could be. Fortunately we still have Anime Limited and MVM on that front. I'm not sure they would even attempt to release a film like Wicked City if they knew such a core part of the experience was missing. At the very least they'd be upfront about it to alleviate the disappointment.
