Recently, I've noticed that there are so many idiots who insist on spamming this website's forums by posting links to porno, and job advertisements. Is there anything we can do to get rid of this problem? And lately this issue seems to be on the increase, I just logged in to find all this s*** in our anime forums.

Those people can be banned, but if you think about it, anyone can spam. Mods have lives too so they might not be able to take them down as fast as they come up. The only real solution would be shutting down the forum... but thats not really a "solution".

Ignore them and continue what you do. IP addresses get banned, so those won't be back... on the same cpu.

Well, we just go three new mods, so this shouldn't be being quite as big of a problem now (I hope). I saw most of it disappear already. It just seems all the spambots like to post at the same time, and they do it fast and numerous...

All or at least most of them aren't actually people. They're programs designed to post advertisements on forums like these.

Haha it'd be interesting if there were an anti-spam-bot. Very Happy

I think that would be neat. Spam-bot versus Anti-spam-bot. Like a huge mecha fight like Power Rangers and such. Shocked

Well, this last outbreak has been dealt with. The problem was is there were 3 spambots hitting at the same time and they have to first post before we can react, and being that they're programs they can post faster than I can respond. As PantsGoblin mentioned there has been a recent addition of 3 mods to the forum staff so that should at least help this matter somewhat, but sadly there's no permanent preventative solution.

I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread as it is OT for this forum, if you have further concerns regarding the moderating of the forum feel free to address those concerns in this thread.
